Two miles away in the city of Newport Beach was a complete church facility. The campus was appraised at several million dollars more than Liberty’s property in Irvine. The Lord miraculously opened the door for Liberty to trade properties with the other church on an “even-swap” basis.
On March 1, 1998, Liberty Baptist Church and Newport Christian School moved into an incredibly beautiful and functional church campus.
The people of Liberty Baptist Church rejoice in the goodness of God in this miraculous provision. We believe that God honored their commitment to “owe no man anything, but to love one another…” Romans 13:8, by providing a place where it is possible for thousands of people to come together on a weekly basis for the worship and praise of the Lord Jesus Christ!
Since we moved into the Newport Beach campus, we have also seen the addition of several new ministries and the expansion of our missions family. In recent days, God allowed us to build two beautiful new buildings on our campus: the Education Center (completed in August of 2014) and the Family Life Center Gymnasium (completed in August of 2015). These facilities have already been greatly used by our church family as well as the Newport Christian School family.
After 25 years of faithful and fruitful ministry here at Liberty, Pastor and Mrs. Dwight Tomlinson followed God’s leading into the missions ministry of barnabas1040.com.
In September of 2015, Liberty Baptist Church called Ryan Thompson to serve as Senior Pastor. Ryan and Tiffany, along with their five children, are excited to be a part of all that God has planned for this unique ministry in the years to come.
As we consider the history of Liberty Baptist Church we can only say with the Psalmist when he penned these words, “This is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes.” —Psalm 118:23
Yet, we believe the greatest days of Liberty Baptist Church are still ahead as we reach into Orange County and the world with the love of Christ.
